July 22

“Jellybean Tree” Wall Art

Your child’s room should be a safe place where she can go to enjoy her playtime, take her naps and get securely tucked in at night. For this reason, it’s important that you help your child inject a little bit of her personality into the room by decorating it in a manner that reflects who she is. At the same time, you want to make sure that the room is decorated in a way that visually appeals to you, is efficient for getting the day’s activities done and makes the maximum use of space with the least amount of clutter.

Here are a few decorating ideas that can get you started on the way to creating a safe, fun, aesthetically pleasing room for your kids:

Yes, you can always rely on the standard party games to make sure that the kids at your child’s next birthday have a good time. After all, old favorites like hitting the piñata, playing hide-and-go-seek, bobbing for apples and even playing pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey never really get old. But if you want to make sure that everyone has a really good time at your child’s party and that the event is really one that will be remembered, then you might consider trying out some more creative birthday party games.

Taste of Home Kid-friendly cooking & Crafts Magazine Review

July 17

This week’s review will be on the Taste of Home’s Kid-friendly cooking & Crafts Magazine. I had bought the Magazine last week when I was in the check-out isle at the Grocery Store. As I was waiting for my turn to check-out I scanned the magazine rack for my usual weekly gossip fill. But, as I was scanning the rack the Taste of Home’s Kid-friendly cooking & Crafts Magazine caught my eye. The cover of the Magazine had a bunch of super cute brightly colored alien cupcakes. Once I saw the sub-title, "Plan the Perfect Birthday Party!" I had to take a look.

Arts & Crafts for Kids – Why is art important for Preschoolers

July 13
You know that arts and crafts are great for your kids. After all, they keep them entertained and occupied, sometimes for hours at a time despite their typically short attention spans. And they give you a focused activity that you can enjoy which frequently results in a product that you and your child can both be proud of. But did you know that arts and crafts aren’t just great distractions for your kids; art is actually very important to the healthy development of children who are preschool age.

Educational Activities for the Summer

June 29

We all remember the joy of summer vacation. It was when we went on trips, enjoyed some leisure time with friends and family and otherwise got to have a little bit of a break from the daily grind of our many years of formal education. But as an adult, you know that a lot of learning can get lost in those months if you let it. Learning should be an ongoing activity that your child does each day of his life … but that doesn’t mean that you have to give up the joys of summer vacation altogether. Instead, engage in fun educational activities with your kids during the summer to keep their minds sharp even as they enjoy their seasonal adventures.

Homeschooling Styles

June 28
You’ve decided that homeschooling is the way to go with your child, at least during the early preschool years when you want to retain more influence over your child’s learning than you would have if he went to a public school. But making that decision is just the beginning. Now you’ve got to decide what type of homeschooling style you’re going to use to make sure that you’re providing your child with the kind of education that suits your parenting style but also prepares him for the academic and social worlds he’ll encounter in the future.

Let’s take a look at some of the different types of homeschooling styles that parents out there are using to educate their preschoolers so you can get a better idea of what your options are and how you’re going to exercise them.

How To Improve Your Preschooler’s Listening Skills

June 26

It is infuriating when it feels like your child ignores the directions that you have given. As a parent, it’s frustrating to feel like your child doesn’t have the listening skills that she needs to be able to understand, remember and act upon what you have told her. But this is a normal part of the development process and one of the reasons that parents of preschoolers require wells of patience in order to assist their children in growing up with normal, healthy development. You not only want to teach your child good listening skills so that she can do what you say needs to be done but you also want to make sure she has those skills so that she will do well in school, get along with peers and be able to engage in appropriate social behavior in groups.

Here are some tips to improve your preschooler’s listening skills and to get her well on the way to being able to understand what’s said to her and to act upon it appropriately.

Chores For Preschool Kids

June 22

Should your preschooler be required to do chores? At what age are chores appropriate for your kids? And how do you go about delegating chores to your preschooler? These are all questions that parents often face as they try to teach their kids about responsibility in the home. Parents should know that dealing with these questions is something that other parents are going through as well and that you’ll find the right answers for your family.

Establishing Healthy Bedtime Routines

June 22

Bedtime. Does the very word strike fear into your heart? Don’t worry; you aren’t alone. Many parents dread the nightly bedtime ritual. This is especially true for parents of preschoolers who are worried about leaving their children alone in the night but getting a little bit desperate for some rest of their own. Establishing healthy bedtime routines can help make that part of the night go more smoothly. In fact, healthy bedtime routines can even make getting ready for bed a fun family activity. Believe it or not, bedtime doesn’t have to be bad time.
